Favre retiring
Brett Favre’s press conference officially announcing his retirment was emotional. It was hard to watch without getting a bit choked up myself. Emotional is the one word to describe Favre’s play throughout his career. He truly loved the game and played like it every Sunday–high fiving, jumping into the arms of a receiver, carrying a running back off the field in jubilation, running around looking for someone to congratulate after winning the Super Bowl. He tried hard, but could not choke back every tear. Could you have held back the tears after 17 years of giving everything you had to your career? I have always wanted a guy to retire with a big smile on his face, recalling the best and worst of times, laughing, having left the tears at home. I guess it is harder than I can imagine to give yourself over to something so completely for your life and then, at age 38, say goodbye to it all. RIP, Brett Favre. Retire in peace.
